Prostate Cancer Risk and Chicken Skin
A study of 1294 men showed that those men who consumed approximately 3 servings a week of poultry with skin had a twofold higher risk of developing prostate cancer compared to those who did not. The study which was published inAm J Clin Nutr. December 30, 2009 noted that consumption of unprocessed red meat fish total poultry and skinless poultry were not associated with prostate cancer recurrence or progression.
Dr. Smith’s comment: the cause of these findings is unknown at this time, but many hormones and other toxins to concentrate in the fat which is found in the yolk of the egg and the chicken skin. Just another reason to eat organic foods when ever possible.
